The Children of Asteri are an elven culture who follow a different path to the elves at Klippika.

Uthariel, the ancient elf bard of Klippika, related the tale of the Children of Asteri to Dramble and Aila on the return journey from Taurtaikatanur. She said that the Children of Asteri were a rival sect of elves, who also travelled from across The Southern Sea in Queen Moranna's time*. Uthariel described them as wicked elves who played with powers which should not have been meddled with. According to the tales from Klippika the Children of Asteri were eventually banished to a distant city in the east. (May be Dessadess?)

  • Queen Moranna was Merielle's great-great-grandmother, who led the Klippika elves across the sea in a fleet of ships.

Side note: The name "Asteri" is written on the reverse side of coins recovered from the Ioun temple built by the Fox people. Asteri coins were also recovered from the spider nest beneath The Temple of Power.

There appears to be a written language used by The Children of Asteri. It has been seen in use at Fox people sites and also in the Temple of Asteri seen in the western mountains above the mountain pass town of Crella.

Could the Fox people actually be the Children of Asteri?

After the investigations around Creller Pass and parts of ancient Sesseran it is becoming clear that there may have been some editing of history on the part of Meriel and her ancestors, as it appears that the Children of Asteri were likely Heskaron's people and Moranna was his queen, and Merielle's ancestors denounced the dark magics and broke away. It is not clear whether both Heskaron and Moranna were boith Children of Asteri, or only Heskeron and Moranna was from a different line and married in. It is also unknown which of Merielle's Ancestors broke away, it may even have been Moranna herself once he started pusuing dark magics. However the "City to the East" that the Children were banished too, likely refers to one or more of the cities of Sesseran, possibly as the result of elven wars in the region.

Above is likely not 100% correct as it was told from the point of view of the Klippika elves, and Sesseran is West of Klippika. This means the city might be Dessadess

Builder Connection

Asteri was the name the Elves had for Builders. The Children of Asteri seemed to have earned their dark reputation by discovering the Builders' artifacts and studying them, creating their own twisted versions of the Guardians, Waldo Statues and even blue stone horses that will come alive when powered by builder bolts. They made their advances by experimenting directly on other living beings leading to many casualties
