Waldo Statues
The Waldo Statues are large stone figures made of an unidentified blue stone. They appear life-like in most respects, and seem to be built to resemble the Builders except for the fact that their faces are entirely blank save two empty eye sockets.
The statues are designed to be remotely operated by a worker sat at a Remote Working Station. When the worker operates the Waldo Statue, their consciousness is transferred to the statue's body and their face replaces the blank face of the statue. Disturbingly, the operator's own face is rendered blank and featureless while they operate the Waldo, though incredibly this does not appear to cause any harm. The operator can leave the statue and return to their own body by crossing the statue's arms over its chest.
The operator gains the strength and other physical attributes of the statue while inhabiting it, though their mental faculties remain their own. Spellcasting does not seem to be possible while inhabiting a Waldo Statue.
Waldo Statues have been found in the lowest floor of The Temple of Power and in the main chamber of The Temple of Healing. A detached Waldo head was also found in the workshop of the Temple of Healing during an initial visit by explorers from The Valley
There are lots of Waldo statues in Woods End Fort some of which appear to be Elven creations.
When some one is "in" a statue, their body is preserved and kept alive, not needing food or water. They also seem to age much more slowly than normal, with 30 years becoming just a few years.
