He was a good King, but 'turned bad' when he 'started poking around in strange technologies and magical devices'. Heskeron betrayed his councillors and murdered them at the top of the mountain (Presumably at Heskaron's Tower

Heskeron was searching for eternal life and found it, after a fashion. His spirit lives in the tower; he’s cursed to wander the mountain top and has done so for 1200 years
