This device, around the size of a shoebox, can be used to make recordings of scenes lasting up to a minute which can then be replayed on the same device, or at an Asteri filigree table. Setting a pre-recorded scene playing requires an action, and it can be set to play once, or loop continuously.

The replayed recordings are illusory in nature and have both sound and vision, working in the same way as the Minor Illusion cantrip

A DC 12 Investigation check will reveal that the recording is an illusion.

The device contains four crystals with recordings already on them and four which are empty. Making a new recording onto a crystal removes any stored recording already there, regardless of the length of the new recording.

The crystal recordings recovered with the device are visual only, they are:

  • An Asteri Builder in the role of a teacher or mentor instructing two beings, a proto-human and proto-goblin.
  • A proto-human with a pair of Asteri Builders. The proto-human is shown in a subservient role, head bowed.
  • A spinning circle with six points on the outside, reminiscent of the holy symbol of Pelor. The spinning circle is inside three other concentric circles, all on the same plane. At the very centre of all the circles is a bright red light, possibly symbolising the sun.

  • An abstract design of two intertwined spirals or helixes, the meaning of which is a mystery.

One was first discovered at the Builder Storage location. It was subsequently taken.
