Official Version
On the Third day of the Festival, Blynde Dyrwülf reelased this statement:
"We of Blynde Dyrwülf were shocked and horrified to learn of the events of the second evening of the festival, and the death of our esteemed collegues. In rememberence of the sacrifice of members of The Underdarkness, and many other good people of Kassiter, we shall be playing tonight, as the show must go on, and tomorrow night shall instead be a memorian gig for our fallen friends.
Jasterin, Dasterin, Spuggy, you live on in our hearts and your brave sacrifices shall not be forgotten."
True to their word, Blynde Dyrwülf played their, rather muted gig on night three, and led a supergroup made up of all the festival's headline bands, and the remaining members of The Underdarkness on night four in a gig that will not soon be forgotten.
What Really Happened
Kassiter is a desert city and "wakes up" at dusk and and "goes to sleep" once the heat of the day becomes too much, so the following all take place from evening to early morning each day)
Day -1 of Festival
Blynde Dyrwülf spend most of the day rehearsing in their digs in Greyfane.
Their two dwarf roadies Fazim and Elbara share a barrel of local ale between them and all go to bed.
Day 1 of the Festival
the band wake up to find most of their instruments have been stolen. Most importantly, The hurdy Gurdy, the Accordian, the Penrose Triangle, the glockenspiel Keytar and drumkit and Luts'a precious Feywyld lute, Lita. Doing a gig without those would be basically impossible! The band is nothing without The Triangle. Also a grand piano and a pipe organ, although some band members are secretly pleased at this and hope they don't get found...
The Roadies are still snoring and blame a bad barrel of beer for them sleeping through the theft.
The band panic, decide to try and locate the missing instruments themselves, as they worry the promoter will try and replace them if he finds out, and leap into action... to find breakfast. At Henrist's Cafe. His daughter, Razella serves them and is totally starstruck and is over the moon to get pictures and autographs. The ale vendor is located and indicates he aquirred the casks from a dealer at the docks. A little more investigation also pointed to the docks as the probable location for a black market of the kind where instruments might end up.
At the docks, the band split up to try and find information about this market, with Castanea pulling on underwold contacts to find it was in a place called Greenglass Hollow and that you probably needed a token to get in. Luta walked into a dwarf bar, charmed the innkeeper and his assisant and walked out with directions to the market, the passphrase and authentication token, after leaving enough gold to cover the patron's drinks for the day. With Castanae making Herself, Vadania and the Drow invisible,Luta disguising herself as disreputable half-elf and Dariel disguising himself similarly the band quickly located the entrance to the market through old mine-workings that stretched out under the sea. Quickly gaining entrance for the 2 visible members with the token and passphrase, the invisible ones easily sneaking in with them, the hidden 4th market of Kassiter was revealed, a large cavern full of stalls of all sorts of hot and grey goods with many dark tunnels branching off it.
Use of Locate object quickly showed Verdania's hurdey gurdy on a stall, and Luta negotiated a very cheap deal, with a couple of silver rings thrown in- one a ring of the Guild of the White Wolf and one with a squirrel on it, apparently commemerating a time an Elven princess spoke to a squirrel, and a Necklace of Fireball, which was only 10Gold, as it had a couple of jewels missing, and the stallowner did not know what she had. Spotting Castanea's accordian on another stall, Luta quickly negotiated a deal and shook on it, aquirring the instrument. Unfortunately, during the shake, The stallholder had slipped Luta's ring off her finger without he noticing. Fortunately, Castanea spotted this and whispered to Luta, who immediately turned around and "suggested" to the stall holder that he get it back and return it to here immediately.
The stallholder shot off after the urchin he had given the ring too and the band followed him through a tunnel to another cavern to a jewelery stall where he was now remonstrating with the proprietor that he had to have the ring back, to little avail. Still invisible, Castanea located the ring on tray with several others , retrieved it and threw the rest on the floor, causing much confusing and a punch up, during which the band slipped out and deeper into the market complex. Luta got her ring back, and remembered to command it to be invisible this time!
Deeper into the market thre was all sorts of caverns with speciality goods, including rare silks and a room of dinosaSneaking, evesdropping and investigation, revealed these to be members of The Sandsharks, an underworld gang of desert ner-do-wells. Further investigation of their den was curtailed when someone made a bit too much noise and alerted them. The band quickly withdrew back to their digs with the instruments they had retrieved.
Day 2 of the Festival
Early on
The Days sleep was interuppted by the arrival of a teenage girl and her friends outside the digs screaming for The Drow, fortunatley The Drow delt with this in his normal, understated, manner (Hold Person). On rising the band found the outside of thier digs grafittied with poems of undying love for The Drow.
The Evening of Day 2 sees A trip to see the promoter resulted in the band being granted better accomadation in the secure compound due to all the unfortunate events and a promise to find replacement instruments. While the promoter was definitely thinking of replacing the band, a smile and persuassion from Luta soon turned that around. Fazim and Elbara made arrangements for the gear to be moved during that evening.
Getting breakfast at a nice coffee and pastry shop where the waiters acted all weird, but excellent pastries came out nevertheless. Eventually. For such nice pastries the place was strangely empty though. Because of the issues at the market the day before, Castanea moved her stolen orb to the Portable Hole that the band used for keeping costumes and other things while touring, for safe keeping.
Castanea's Locate Object spell, this time attuned to Luta's beloved lute, Lita, showed that she was still in the ctty and the band set off in hot pursuit, eventually ending up through the Maltrasi Gate and in Maltrasi Square. Maltrasi Square is a beautfiul dessert city square, full of colourful awnings and stalls and several streets leading off. It was one of those streets that the spell indicated that Lits was, and getting closer. The band members hid around the square and waitied. Looking down the street reveled none other than Jasterin and Dasterin, the brothers from The Underdarkness walking toward the square. Jasterin was carrying a guitar and had a Vox Halla Amplifier strapped to his back, but Dasterin had Lita strapped to his back!
Luta stepped into the street and put on her best charm, and was nonplussed when it just seemed to slide off them, with Jastering saying "'ere, I think she's trying to charm us!" and laughing. It quickly became obvious that the Underdarkenss brothers were, in fact vampire spawn, and as such immune to charm. There then followed a small altercation with all the band pitching in while Luta attempted to find the right spell to control Jasterin to give her the lute back. During the fight nobody made a fool of themeselves at all, and despite escape attempts including scaling walls, Lita the Lute was retreived unharmed, Dasterin was captured in a magically-animated awning and jasterin spontaneously transformed into a smoldering pile of ash curtesy of 2 of the Necklace of Fireballs's jewels. Various bits of the street were on fire, but this was deemed to not be related.
While getting ready to make themselves scarce, a bloody arm dropped into the street from a roof above, and looking up, the band spotted Spuggy Marengo, who had been watching the whole sorry affair while gnawing on some poor sod's arm. Alarmed, he ran off to raise the alarm. The band memebrs realised he could not be allowed to return to his master so set off in pursuit. At a nearby crossroads, he was spotted again on a roof against a chimmney. In a flash of desperation, Luta threw the remainder of the Necklace of Fireballs At him ( 5 jewels) and there was a large explosion and fireball and no more Spuggy. Or building. There was, however, a lot of fire. The members of Blynd Dyrwülf made themselves excedingly scarce, down to the docks with Dasterin in tow, still wrapped in an animated awning.
Down in a secluded area of the docks, Dasterin was interrorgated, and revealed that The Underdarkness were all vampire spawn and worked for their vampire lord,Pasha Zulma who had a compound fronted by a certain coffee shop, which at least explained why it had been so empty earlier in the day! He confessed that him and his brother had arranged the theft of the instruments to sell them, to pay off a bad debt to the Sansharks, and the remaing instruments that weren't sold are in the compound. Dasterin was dispatched. It was around this time that we noticed a srange smell and smoke coming from the portable hole!
On opening the Portable Hole, acrid smoke poured out of it, and it was obvious that most of our costumes were destroyed. Sitting in the smoldering ruins, the orb that Castanea had placed there was pulsing gently with a sickening light. Castanea quickly pocketed the orb and we did our best to disapate the fumes from the hole.
Later On
As the evening wore on, planning on how to retrieve the remaining drumkit, glogkenspiel keytar and Penrose triangle from Pasha Zulma's compound was interrupted by a commotion from the docks. On going to look, a Wraith had risen from the water at the end of the dock, and was walking towards the city, killing and raising as spectres any who got in his way. the city guard were attempting to engage, but the wraith seemed pretty intent on getting toward the city proper and a full on rout was quickly underway. in the process of being borded up and locked down The band members quickly retreated to where Pasha Zulma's coffee shop was, to find it in the process of being boarded up and locked down. Luta, Castanea and Dariel disguised themselves as Jasterin, Dasterin and Sashkat from The Underdarkness, and Verdania and The Drow were made invisible by Castanea. Luta banged on the door of the compound demanding to be let in, and acting scared. This worked and they were ushered in by the doorman, who barred the door after them and said that Pasha was waiting with the others in the War Room. Luta left a suggestion on the door guards that if the real remaining members of The Underdarkness turned up, they would be kept busy. The invisible members went searching for the instruments, whilst the disguised Jasterin, Dasterin and Sashkat went and took seats at the back of the War Room. In the War Room Pasha Zulma was addressing a selection of the city's leaders of the underworld and ordering them to find out what was happening and to stop it. Afterwards, spotting the Underdarkness members he took them aside and spoke to them, making it clear that he was displeased with them, and what had happened with Obfuscate was not to happen again, and it was bad enough that he had had to bring in outsiders to replace them. He said that the Festival must go ahead without any further hitch as it was very important to him and to the city. Luta, as Jastrian, suggested that returning the instruments of Blynde Dyrwülf might go a long way to helping with this. Pasha Zulman looked angry at this, and for a moment the band thought it was about to become a fight, but he quickly calmed and said "You mean the instruments *you* gifted me were stolen!" He looked angry again "Get out of my sight, and take them back with you!"
The 3 disguised elves didn't need to be told twice, and locating the other two, retreived the instruments and after being unsolicitously ejected from the compound with a cart, quickly took them back to their new digs. This left the issue of the pulsing orb and how the appearence of a wraith making a beline to the city didn't seem like a coincidence. Castanea decided that as noone from her original heist had returned for it after a year, that discretion was probably the better part of valor and she should get rid of it. Castanea and Luta disgised themselves and stealthed out to the sea wall, and with the assistant of Unseen Servent, pitched the, still pulsating orb into the sea and hid in the shadows. Sure enough, quite quickly the Wraith had stopped it's march to the city, returned to the docks, and went into the sea where the orb had landed, then seemed to walk away across the sea. Kassiter was safe again.
Day 3 of the Festival
Most of Kassiter was in shock and mourning from the events of the night before. After hearing Pasha Zulma's speeches the night before and realising that he was right, and the show must go on, Blynde Dyrwülf reached out to the promoter, and to the remaining members of The Underdarkness, offering to fill in for their dead comrades. The offer was declined, as Sashkat and Terbo didn't think it would work, so instead, Blynde Dyrwülf offered to take the Day 3 Headline slot and to organise a rememberence supergroup for the closing night - to help the city heal, and to commemerate the city's dead and members of The Underdarkness who bravely gave their life defending Kassiter from the invader. Indeed Luta recounted how she herself saw how bravely Jasterin engaged the wraith while she cowered in a shop doorway, and when Luta tells a story... people believe it.
Blynde Dyrwülf then go onto headline Day 3 of the festival with a "Show must go on" spirit.
Day 4 of the Festival
The evening's rememberence gig from the supergroup consisting of members from all the bands, and fronted by Luta Ford, was a roaring success, helping the citizens of Kassiter through their grief and raising much gold for the rebuilding effort. We hope Pasha Zulman was pleased.
Out of Character Notes
The orb turned out to be a phylactery of Heskeron that was stored safely in a vault in Taurhopa. When Castanea and her team stole it he kept his eye on where it was, but didn't worry too much as it wasn't in danger. When the orb was put into a dimentional portal and closed off from this plane, all hell broke loose as Heskeron lost contact with it. The orb activated it's emergency protocols. Heskeron immediately dispatched General Tharin to the last know location to find out what was happing and retrieve it. When it was removed from the portable hole again, then it could be sensed again, and Tharin homed in on it. The orb is now safely in the hands of Heskeron again.
Blynde Dyrwülf leave Kassiter soon afterwards for a grand tour of Sesseran, having gained many new fans and much more fame, enough to keep even Luta feeling happy and full for some time to come.
